Artist Statement

In my work, I strive to tell all kinds of stories. Some of the stories I tell are based on my own experiences and family history, but I also find inspiration in folklore, fairy tales, and Gothic literature. Although not always the case, my work often displays elements of both personal experience and outside inspiration, with fictional figures and settings representing the real life experiences of my family and me.

I also like to experiment with different ways to tell those stories. All of my work falls under the printmaking umbrella, but I like to add illustrative and painterly elements to my prints. Additionally, depending on the story I am telling, I may utilize intaglio, relief, or monotypes. All of these methods produce a different visual effect, and I choose the method based on the needs of the image I want to produce. Whatever the method, the goal remains the same: to tell stories in an interesting and effective way.
